Book Club Questions – grab your FREE printable list of questions!
Are you in a book club? I’ve been in a couple, and I’ve tried to start them. I like them because you get together with like-minded people and discuss what you’ve read.
How do you feel about the questions? The ones in the back of the book?
I’m one of “those people” who read the acknowledgments all the way through the questions and author interview. Sometimes we’ve used those questions, and sometimes we use our own.
What makes a good book club question?
Don’t ask me – what was your experience with the book? I need more detailed questions. Ones that make me evaluate what I’ve read.
Things like:
- Did the title fit the book?
- What were the themes of the book?
- Did it make you cry, laugh, smile, mourn?
Things like that. I need depth–I want depth. I’m not, by nature, a questioning person. I know what I like and don’t like, but I can’t always tell you why. So those detailed questions help.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hi, I’m Jen! I’ve been married 37 years, have 5 amazing kids and 2 adorable grandkids and one on the way. I homeschooled our three youngest children. I used to blog about homeschooling and taught Oral Communication as an adjunct instructor for over 5 years.
Jen Dodrill Writes is born of a passion of mine – to write a novel! When I’m not working, you’ll find me writing, spending time with my family, or curled up on the couch reading and drinking a mug of dark roast coffee. (Don’t forget to check out my mug shop – JDMugs!)
